When the power of love
overcomes the love of power
the world will know peace
– Jimi Hendrix
The inspiration behind the name Power of Love came amidst all the turmoil the world finds itself in at the moment and having come through a 2-year COVID pandemic, the Black Lives Matter movement, and all the Gender Equality issues that seem to create polarising and isolation views on people, races and culture.
We believe that we are one as a human race and look past highlighting specific groups that prevent us from experiencing all that Humanity has to offer. Music is a very strong theme in our philosophy and the Jimi Hendrix quote above seems more appropriate now than ever.
This is our first go at bottling a Chenin Blanc and it’s a vibrant, lip-smacking one at that, Fruit driven and juicy with refreshing aromas of guava, pineapple and winter melon.
The palate sings with flavours of citrus, white pear, quince and lingering yellow peaches.
5% of proceeds will be donated to organisations that we believe are involved in bettering Human Rights across the Globe (you are welcome to contact us with thoughts and ideas you believe will help us achieve these goals). Currently we are splitting the proceeds between out.org.za and africaunite.org.za.
Best paired with One Love – by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Although it feels as like there is very little to celebrate lately, we’re thrilled to let you know that Black Elephant Vintners is gearing up to release new vintages for three of our top-rated wines. We can’t wait to share these outstanding offerings with our valued customers. Weather permitting, these should all be available in the next month, fingers crossed.

Source of Grapes: Swartland, Western Cape, South-Africa
The fruit for our 20223 Chenin Blanc was sourced from unirrigated old bush vines growing in the Swartland region of the Western Cape of South Africa. Each site contributes a different flavour profile to the final blend as it grows on diverse soil types and slopes. Each vineyard is handled separately to capture its unique personality.
Harvest dates: End January- Mid February 2023
Each vineyard is harvested and vinified separately to ensure maximum complexity. All our fruit are hand-picked in the early morning and handled reductively to preserve the fruit’s integrity. After destemming, a period of skin contact is allowed according to chemical analysis, phenolic and flavour ripeness. 3days of cold settling follow a light pressing to clarify the juice. A maximum of 600l/ton is recovered at this stage. Each vineyard is inoculated with selected yeast to match its flavour profile. Fermentation lasts for 21-30 days at 13-16°C. 2 Months of full lees contact, with regular stirring, is allowed post-fermentation to add richness and texture to the wine. The components are then blended and stabilised before bottling.
3 months on its primary lees with batonage weekly
This is our second vintage of The Power of Love Chenin Blanc and sees a change of origin from Simonsberg to Swartland. It’s vibrant, full-bodied and fruit-forward with refreshing flavours of guava, pineapple, yellow peach and winter melon. The palate zings with flavours of citrus, white pear, quince and lingering blood orange.
One love, one heart
